Outpatient Amputation Rehabilitation Program
The Amputation Rehabilitation Program at New England Sinai Hospital provides a
patient/family-focused program of education and treatment that emphasizes each patient's unique strengths, abilities and preferences. The Program's goal is to maximize the patient's level of functional independence to be consistent with the demands of his/her community environment. The program places a strong emphasis on patient and family/support system education and advocacy to optimize successful outcomes.
Our Amputation Rehabilitation Program:
·Treats conditions and complications related to limb loss,
·Reduces risk factors for further amputation,
·Facilitates functional independence and performance,
·Identifies and meets needs for prosthetic care,
·Facilitates psychological and social coping and adaptation skills,
·Facilitates community integration and participation in life roles,
·Provides services for families/support systems.
Program Admission Criteria:
·Primary Diagnosis of Amputation
·Adult population
·Impairments in function, mobility, self-care and/or communication
·Ability to achieve goals in an identifiable period of time
·Appropriate funding source
