Prosthetic Clinic

The Prosthetic Clinic, which is offered through the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, is held each Thursday in the Hospital's Ambulatory Care Center, and is available to all patients who have experienced an amputation as a result of illness or injury. Each patient is thoroughly evaluated by a Physiatrist, a physician specializing in physical medicine & rehabilitation, a certified prosthetist, and a physical therapist. The team works closely with the patient to prescribe and fit an appropriate prosthesis, and to development a management plan that meets the total needs of the patient, and focuses on maximizing overall independence and mobility. When needed, referrals can be made to other on-site resources including, occupational therapy, nutritional counseling, and a certified wound care nurse specialist.
