Sleep Disorders Program

Sleep is essential to good health. Getting a good night’s sleep refreshes the mind and body, promotes normal, healthy cell growth, enhances productivity, memory and learning, helps us to manage stress and feel our best.

Yet, millions of Americans are not getting the sleep they need and suffer from a chronic sleep disorder or intermittent sleep-related problem. Sleep deprivation can interfere with mental and physical function. Poor sleep health is linked to high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Sleep deprived people are more likely to experience problems with memory, learning, irritability, depression and decision-making.

Sleep HealthCenters®, a network of specialized sleep medicine centers, in affiliation with New England Sinai Hospital, provides patients with comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. The Sleep Disorders Program offers medical consultations, sleep studies, treatment options, including such devices as CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), education and follow-up care. It addresses sleep disorders such as insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), excessive daytime sleepiness, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome and more. Contact with a patient's own referring physician is maintained throughout the process, and services are covered by most insurance plans. The facility's bedrooms are designed like hotel rooms, offering patients privacy in a noise-free environment with a private bath, full-size bed, and a TV. In the morning following sleep studies, patients are offered a continental breakfast before going on their way.
