BARRY N. KOSLOW, JD, APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF NEW ENGLAND SINAI
HOSPITAL FOUNDATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES
STOUGHTON, MA — Lester P. Schindel, President and CEO of New England Sinai Hospital, has announced that Barry N. Koslow of Byfield has been appointed Chairman of the Sinai Foundation Board of Trustees. His appointment was announced at the hospital’s Annual Meeting on June 5, 2008. In 2007 Koslow was elected to the Sinai Board of Directors; he served as Chair of the Foundation when it was established in October 2001; and from June 1997 through June 2005, he served as a member of the Board of Directors. “I am very pleased to announce this new appointment,” said Schindel. “Barry’s many years of experience as a company legal counsel are key to advancing the mission of Sinai’s Foundation Board, and having his guidance as Chairman will be invaluable.”
Koslow is founder, President and CEO of MKA Executive & Professional Benefits, Inc., a nationally recognized firm with expertise in benefits and insurance programs for financial institutions and tax-exempt organizations. He has over 30 years of experience as company legal counsel and advisor to financial institutions, hospitals and other not-for-profit organizations, and often serves as a consultant to attorneys, accountants, and insurance companies. He is a member of the Massachusetts and American Bar Associations and the prestigious Association for Advanced Life Underwriting. He served for many years on the Boards of Special Olympics Massachusetts (Chair 1994-1996) and his professional affiliations also include the Society of Financial Service Professionals, The National Health Lawyers Association and World at Work (formerly the American Compensation Association). He was a founding partner of Morrill Koslow Associates and served for seven years as Executive Vice President of USI. A graduate of Northeastern University and Boston University School of Law, Koslow is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and Maine.
Stanley Hatoff of Boston and Faith Weiner of Stoughton were appointed for initial terms as Foundation Trustees. Hatoff, a resident of Boston, is a Vice Chairman of the Sinai Board of Directors and also serves on a number of key committees. A staunch volunteer, Hatoff is dedicated to philanthropic support and has demonstrated extraordinary generosity to Sinai over the years.
Faith Weiner is a resident of Stoughton and Senior Director of Public Affairs for Stop & Shop Company. As an enthusiastic advocate for Sinai she has facilitated Stop & Shop’s demonstrated community support of key hospital events. Foundation Trustees reappointed to three-year terms are: Mark S. Cohen (Sharon); Steve Robbins (Stoughton); Rosalyn Seale (Medford); and Judith Woolfson (Chestnut Hill).
New England Sinai Hospital Foundation is a separate, non-profit foundation whose mission is to inspire philanthropy to advance exceptional healthcare for patients at Sinai. The Foundation’s objective is to utilize philanthropy to meet the health-care needs of Sinai's communities and preserve and expand the Hospital's programs and services in patient care and health education. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. The Sinai Foundation Board sets policy and directs the activities of the organization. The Sinai Foundation and Board are charged with maintaining an ongoing fundraising program to benefit New England Sinai Hospital. All gifts contributed to the Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
New England Sinai Hospital is a 212-bed, non-sectarian, not-for-profit, long-term acute-care hospital with its main campus in Stoughton, MA and inpatient satellite units at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston and Caritas Carney Hospital in Dorchester.
