STOUGHTON, MA — New England Sinai Hospital President and CEO Lester P. Schindel has announced the appointment of Deborah Ribak, LSW as Assistant Director of Adult Day Health Programs. She will assist in directing Sinai’s medical model program, located at the Striar Jewish Community Center at 445 Central Street in Stoughton, and Sinai’s Alzheimer’s Center, located directly across the street from the hospital. “Deborah has been instrumental in helping Sinai with outreach efforts in our community and beyond. Her strong management skills and her sensitive and caring approach to working with participants and their families has helped change many lives for the better,” said Schindel. Formerly serving as Social Worker and Admissions Coordinator for the Adult Day Health Program, Ribak has been at Sinai since 2003.
A resident of Easton, Ribak worked as a social worker with the Department of Youth Services prior to joining Sinai. She has a bachelor’s degree in social work from Bridgewater State College and is completing a master’s degree in social work at Bridgewater.
Both Adult Day Health Programs enrich the lives of participants by easing loneliness and providing an opportunity for socialization in a supervised environment in addition to providing families with peace of mind. Sinai’s medical model day Adult Day Health Program has been providing a supervised day program for adults unable to stay home alone since 1983 in Metro South towns, including: Avon; Brockton; Canton; Easton; Sharon; Stoughton; and Randolph. Participants enjoy social, recreational activities, and a nurse-supervised program that supports the needs of adults with chronic health care issues and Parkinson’s disease.
The Adult Day Alzheimer’s Program, located at the Alzheimer’s Center at 143 York Street, serves participants with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The staff includes skilled nurses trained in caring for Alzheimer’s disease. The program provides assessment, treatment, supervision and administration of medication. The goal of the program is to help keep participants at home for as long as possible and provide activities and services to help them maintain their self esteem and function at their highest level.
