PRESS RELEASE
STOUGHTON RESIDENT NAMED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH AT NEW ENGLAND SINAI HOSPITAL
STOUGHTON, MA — New England Sinai Hospital President and CEO Lester P. Schindel has named Shirley McDade the September Employee of the Month. McDade, a Lead Environmental Services Aide, has been at Sinai since 1988. Praised for always going the extra mile to enhance Sinai care, Schindel calls McDade, “a gem and an extremely hard working person. Shirley is one-of-a-kind. She doesn’t know the meaning of “I can’t,” he said.
In speaking about McDade, her co-workers agree, “Shirley never says, ‘it’s not my job.’ Not only does she do what is required, she will ask if there’s more she can do to help.”
Others noted that she goes out of her way to also make herself available either before or after her shift. “She often anticipates what people need before they even have a chance to ask,” said a colleague.
The Sinai Employee of the Month is chosen from nominations made by hospital staff, patients, and family members. Nominees demonstrate a “Sinai Cares” philosophy in
their everyday work lives and are known for a high level of service, integrity and leadership. A committee of administrators and employees makes the final selection
from those nominated.
When asked why she has stayed at Sinai for so long, McDade says, “Sinai is just a nice, friendly place to work and the people are fabulous. I really enjoy my job and the exercise I get setting up for events. I don’t want to just sit around and get old and cranky. As long as I can work, I want to,” says McDade. As a 35-year resident of Stoughton, McDade also working close to home.
Alan Taylor, Sinai’s Manager of Environmental Services and McDade’s supervisor, says she is, “extremely dedicated to the hospital and always there when we need her; we very much value her longtime commitment to Sinai.”
For her outstanding service to Sinai and willingness to dedicate extra time whenever needed, Shirley McDade is most deserving of recognition as New England Sinai Hospital’s September Employee of the Month.
