Heidi O'Connor MD Named Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy at New England Sinai Hospital

STOUGHTON, MA —New England Sinai Hospital Chief Medical Officer Lawrence S. Hotes, MD has announced the appointment of Heidi O’Connor, MD as Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy at the hospital. The new appointment is a promotion for Dr. O’Connor, who joined Sinai’s Department of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine as an attending physician in July 2008.  “In her first year at Sinai, Dr. O’Connor has helped to significantly enhance the care we provide for our pulmonary and medically complex patients, and help grow our reputation as a center for pulmonary excellence in the region,” said Dr. Hotes. Dr. O’Connor was also recently selected as a finalist for the hospital’s prestigious 2009 Compassionate Caregiver Award.

White, MD, MS, Sinai Chief of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine and Director of the Rose Kalman Research Institute said, “Dr. O’Connor is an outstanding physician who is passionate about pulmonary medicine. She has already made a profound impression on patients, families and staff.

Dr. O’Connor came to Sinai in 2008 from Tufts Medical Center’s Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine where she completed her fellowship. She was also Chief Medical Resident in Tufts Medical Center’s Department of Internal Medicine. In 2007, she received the Oliver Smith Award for Excellence in Patient Care from Tufts New England Medical Center. Those who enjoy the TV series, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” may be interested to know that Dr. O'Connor serves as a medical consultant for the show.

Dr. O'Connor earned a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology, and a Bachelor of Science with High Distinction in Biotechnology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease and is a member of: the American College of Chest Physicians; the American Thoracic Society; the Society of Critical Care Medicine; and the Massachusetts Medical Society. She is a resident of Waltham.
