EASTERN BANK DONATES $30K TO NEW ENGLAND SINAI HOSPITAL'S
ON THE PATH TO EXCELLENCE CAMPAIGN
STOUGHTON, MA — New England Sinai President and CEO Lester P. Schindel has announced that Eastern Bank, the largest independent, mutually owned bank in Massachusetts, has made a gift of $30,000 to kick off “The Campaign for Sinai, On the Path to Excellence.”Funds raised through the campaign will help the hospital improve the lives of patients and their families. Eastern Bank Senior Vice President Stephen J. De Cesare, said, “Eastern Bank has committed itself to helping the communities we serve. Just as we at Eastern Bank strive to serve our customers, we can’t think of a better way to help Sinai serve patients and their families.”
As a medical center of excellence, Sinai is entering a new era in patient care and the capital campaign was conceived to help Sinai continue to lead the way in pulmonary and complex medical care. With a goal of six to seven million dollars, The Campaign for Sinai expects to achieve the following objectives:
- Increase 65 vent capacity to 75 on the main campus in Stoughton.
- Modernize two major wings on the main campus in Stoughton, including complete updates of all patient rooms, bathrooms, showering facilities, nurses’ stations and patient/visitor lounges.
- Make important clinical upgrades, including the installation of new pulmonary and cardiac monitoring equipment.
- Purchase 13 additional state-of-the-art ventilators and other equipment, such as pulse oximeters, cardiac telemetry modules and more.
- Renovate patient rooms.
- Create private, single occupancy patient rooms.
- Expand the Outpatient Pulmonary Program.
- Expand the Sleep Disorders Program.
- Provide support for the rising costs of our Clinical Education Programs.
- Support Sinai’s new Rose Kalman Research Institute, which has been breaking new ground in clinical research related to pulmonary disease and rehabilitation
Bettyann McKenzie, Executive Director of the Sinai Foundation, the philanthropic arm of New England Sinai Hospital, says, “The need to care for patients with complex medical illness and pulmonary disease is greater than ever before and demand for Sinai’s specialized services continues to rise. By making these important improvements, Sinai will be able to care for more patients and enhance their quality of life.”
