PRESS RELEASE

ELIZABETH SIMONI HONORED AT NEW ENGLAND SINAI'S
STEPPING OUT WITH SINAI GALA

STOUGHTON, MASupporters of New England Sinai Hospital’s 2010 “Stepping Out With Sinai,” raised over $175,000 to benefit patient care. The fundraising gala on May 15, 2010, honored Elizabeth Simoni, longtime resident of Canton, owner of Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton and Sinai Foundation Trustee. “We are very pleased with the success of this year’s gala, and all unrestricted proceeds from “Stepping Out With Sinai” will be used to enhance patient care programs, make renovations or purchase clinical equipment,” said Bettyann McKenzie, Executive Director of the New England Sinai Hospital Foundation.

WCVB-TV Channel 5’s Kelley Tuthill served as host for the gala, which more than 300 people attended. Held at the Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood, the gala included a cocktail reception, a silent auction, an elegant sit down dinner, video presentations of patients who “got a second chance at life” thanks to care received at the hospital and music by the Bo Winiker Band. Tuthill, introduced a special tribute honoring Elizabeth Simoni, who was recognized for her help in driving the future of exceptional care at Sinai. The fact that three generations of Simoni’s family were present made the evening especially meaningful. Sinai Foundation Board Chairman, Barry Koslow of Byfield said, “Perhaps the most memorable moment of the evening came when all of the guests rose in a spontaneous standing ovation to honor Betty with her children and grandchildren proudly looking on.”
An avid golfer, Elizabeth Simoni continued to develop Brookmeadow Country Club in 1997 after the death of her husband Frank. As business partners who both believed strongly in giving back to the community, Frank and Betty formed the Frank R. and Elizabeth Simoni Foundation, which has supported hospitals, educational institutions and other local charities. Intent on fulfilling Frank’s dream to expand the club, Betty added new facilities to Brookmeadow and the club continues to thrive. Simoni has been actively involved in helping Sinai make a lasting difference in the lives of patients for 13 years. She served as a member of the Hospital’s Board of Directors for nine years and currently serves as a trustee of the Sinai Hospital Foundation Board.

Founded in October of 2001, the New England Sinai Hospital Foundation was established to serve as the philanthropic arm of New England Sinai Hospital and Rehabilitation Center. The Foundation is committed to raising funds to support New England Sinai Hospital in meeting the health-care needs of its communities, through the development of financial support from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations.
